چکیده

We present a link–rewiring mechanism to produce surrogates of a network where both the degree distribution and the rich–club connectivity are preserved. We consider three real networks, the AS–Internet, the protein interaction and the scientific collaboration. We show that for a given degree distribution, the rich–club connectivity is sensitive to the degree–degree correlation, and on the other hand the degree–degree correlation is constrained by the rich–club connectivity. In particular, in the case of the Internet, the assortative coefficient is always negative and a minor change in its value can reverse the network’s rich–club structure completely; while fixing the degree distribution and the rich–club connectivity restricts the assortative coefficient to such a narrow range, that a reasonable model of the Internet can be produced by considering mainly the degree distribution and the rich–club connectivity. We also comment on the suitability of using the maximal random network as a null model to assess the rich–club connectivity in real networks. Sum-Rate Maximization Based on Power Constraints for Cooperative AF Relay Networks

In this paper, our objective is maximizing total sum-rate subject to power constraints on total relay transmit power or individual relay powers, for amplify-and-forward single-antenna relay-based wireless communication networks. We derive a closed-form solution for the total power constraint optimization problem and show that the individual relay power constraints optimization problem is a quad...

Characterizing the Structural Complexity of Real-World Complex Networks

Although recent research has shown that the complexity of a network depends on its structural organization, which is linked to the functional constraints the network must satisfy, there is still no systematic study on how to distinguish topological structure and measure the corresponding structural complexity of complex networks. In this paper, we propose the first consistent framework for dist...

Study of PKA binding sites in cAMP-signaling pathway using structural protein-protein interaction networks

Backgroud: Protein-protein interaction, plays a key role in signal transduction in signaling pathways. Different approaches are used for prediction of these interactions including experimental and computational approaches. In conventional node-edge protein-protein interaction networks, we can only see which proteins interact but ‘structural networks’ show us how these proteins inter...

Generating conditional uniform random networks by optimization procedures

Complex networks is a recent area of research motivated by the empirical study of realworld networks, such as social relations, protein interaction, neuronal connections, etc. As closed-form probabilistic models of networks are often not available, the ability of randomly generating networks verifying specific constraints might be useful. The purpose of this work is to develop optimization-base...

The Least Cost Design of Water Distribution Networks Using Water Quality Constraints

Water quality is a very important issue related to people health, but it is not usually considered in water distribution networks (WDNs) design. In this paper, new constraints such as free residual chlorine and the quality performance index are incorporated into the least cost design of water distribution networks. EPANET2 was applied for the hydraulic and quality analysis of water distributio...
